Children's Summer Reading 2022 (Ages birth - 14)
Performances
All performances this year will be at the gazebo at the mini park on Main and Broadway streets. They will be on Wednesdays and begin at 10:30 am. Most will last approximately 45 minutes.
Drop-In Programs
Drop-in programs are for children on Friday mornings and gives them a chance to craft or do an activity with our staff one-on-one or with a small group. Children can drop in anytime from 10-11:30 am. No registration is needed. Every week a new craft or activity will be featured.

Spark Joy! Tidying Workshop

Learn tips and tricks inspired by Marie Kondo's "The Life-Changing Magic of Tidying Up" from certified KonMari™ consultant Shannon Huneycutt. Registration is required for this live virtual event.
“Make tidying a special event.” ~ Marie Kondo
In her bestselling book The Life-Changing Magic of Tidying Up, author Marie Kondo introduced a style of tidying that focuses on decluttering and organizing your space by keeping only those items you love. In this live virtual presentation, Shannon Huneycutt, a certified Silver Level KonMari consultant and the founder of Spark Joy Charlotte, will share the philosophy of Kondo's KonMari Method™ and the guiding principles needed to tidy once and for all so you will feel motivated to Spark Joy in your home, office, and life!
Registrants will receive:
* A custom viewing page you will have access to for 48 hours. You can visit the page and view the presentation and perks on your own time.
* A 60-minute recorded presentation in which participants will learn the philosophy behind the KonMari Method and discover what it means to live a life that Sparks Joy.
* A folding demonstration in which attendees will practice the famous KonMari vertical folding technique.
* A Spark Joy Charlotte tidying checklist that breaks apart the KonMari categories, making it easier to apply the method in their homes. An explanation of the given categories and helpful tips for executing the Joy check. (Plus a few of Shannon's favorite storage solutions!)
* Entree for a giveaway. One attendee will win the Jumpstart Your Journey virtual guide to help them get started on their journey.
* A Frequently asked questions section will share Shannon's insight into some of the most common pitfalls when tidying.
Participants are asked to have a standard t-shirt and a pair of pants on hand for learning the famous KonMari Verticial Folding technique. Participants are also asked to have a copy of Shannon's Spark Joy Charlotte Tidying Checklist available to refer to during the presentation.
This is a joint virtual program offered by the Jerseyville Public Library, Chatham Area Public Library District, Carlinville Public Library, Smithton Pubic Library, Herrin City Public Library and Shelbyville Public Library and will be held via Zoom. Space is limited, and registration with an email address is required. Event login information and the Spark Joy Charlotte Tidying Checklist will be emailed to registrants prior to the program.
